[COMEDY/MUSICAL THEATRE ~ USA]

Gluttony – The Flamingo, Sun 24 Feb.

Thrones! The Musical Parody couldn’t have come along at a more perfect time. With less than two months until the start of the seventh and final season of Game Of Thrones, it’s time to remind ourselves of the characters and storylines of this epic show up until now.

Using ‘common’ household items as props, a group of friends decide to act out the key parts of GOT for their friend, who hasn’t seen a single episode. The bathmats used as costumes for the Night’s Watch are strongly reminiscent of the IKEA rugs apparently used on the show itself. Jamie’s gold hand is created using a sequined glove that Michael Jackson would have been proud of. The masterpiece that is Drogon, created from some curtains and an umbrella, has to be seen to be believed!

Diehard fans will enjoy portrayals of the Red Wedding (including the ‘stabbing’ rap), Hodor’s emotional song, and appearances from many of the cast, plus a special guest appearance from ‘Donald Trump’ at ‘the Wall’.

Thrones! certainly gives us “the ending that we want, the ending that we need” – and possibly an ending that is more emotionally satisfying than what might happen in Season 7.

“It’s not just a tv show, it’s so much more than that!”

4.5 stars
