Marion Cultural Centre – Domain Theatre, Fri 8 Mar.
Head banging and air guitars were inevitable at the packed Domain Theatre in the universally accessible Marion Cultural Centre where the Led Zeppelin Tribute band Whole Lotta Zepp took to the stage. The foursome consists of Raffaela Lampasi-oke with lead vocals, Nick Robinson on guitar, Andrew (Andy) Schultz on bass and Kevin Robb on drums, with a special guest appearance by Ross-Co on harmonica.
As the audience piled in, settled on a choice of seating at chairs and tables on the floor level or mezzanine seating at the rear, we eagerly awaited the rocking to begin. During which the music of iconic rock band Queen graced our ears, as well as at intermission; midway during the astonishing three hour concert!
Smoke machine haze filled the theatre, euphorically sending the audience back in time, while original images of Led Zeppelin were projected on the huge screen behind the band of four. Then with the scene set, Whole Lotta Zepp launched the show with the classic hit Communication Breakdown. Followed by How Many More Times? where the guitarist Nick entranced the audience with his incredible fingering skills. And as one would expect in a Led Zeppelin performance, the popular Stairway To Heaven, accompanied by audience members mobile phone ‘lighters’. The set rounded off perfectly with Moby Dick thumped out in Kevin’s epic drum solo.
The bluesy sound of the harmonica accompanied Whole Lotta Zepp in the second set, treating the audience to Bring It On Home and then some, when out comes the violin bow! Set two then continued with other classic titles including Rock ‘n’ Roll and Black Dog, closing the show with band member introductions; or so we thought…encore! The audience once more rocked out, this time to Whole Lotta Love, completing the rocking evening.
Young and old, generational fan or novice, Whole Lotta Zepp is the Led Zeppelin tribute band to see!
