The Garden Of Unearthly Delights – Deluxe, Fri 26 Feb

Bernadette Byrne and Victor Victoria have been thrilling audiences with their shocking and riotous comedy Eastend Cabaret in the Garden since 2012 with songs like Dangerwank never ever leaving you. The UK stars behind Bernadette and Victor, Jennifer Byrne and Victoria Falconer-Pritchard, have brought their new Australian premiere show Yeti’s Demon Dive Bar to the 2016 Adelaide Fringe with support from co-director Tom Velvick from Dead Man Comedy.

Byrne and Falconer-Pritchard have proven that whatever new show they create, it is going to be incredibly hilarious and mischievous. These girls know exactly how to excite a late night Fringe crowd. This sketch-comedy show involves quirky characters invited by Yeti to perform, all of whom are played by the comedy duo. There were the Yeti’s, twins conjoined by their monobrow, a severed crooning head and the audience favourite; the psychedelic nuns.

Some of the best songs tonight were about a 1980s celebrity sex dream involving ‘Bowie on Bowie on me’, the late night drinking song involving 4am Jazz scatting and the psychedelic nuns singing of Jesus spraying his holy water on top of them and the Body of Christ compelling them to dance. Their verse involving ‘Catholic-lick-lick-lick-me’ made me almost choke on my drink.

They are the queens of improvisation and interacting with their audiences. Fantastic debaucherous fun!
